Timpanist Jeffrey Kautz is passionate about music, percussion, and the timpani. He is a graduate of the Mannes School of Music (B.M. with Honors) and NYU Steinhardt School of Music (M.M.). Jeffrey distinguished himself at an early age by winning 31 international timpani competitions across the United States, Singapore, Canada, Germany, Estonia, Hong Kong, Greece, Spain, France, and Switzerland.

 

A devoted champion of the timpani concerto repertoire, Jeffrey has appeared as a soloist with the Mannes Orchestra, NYU Steel Band, NYU Percussion Ensemble, South Shore Symphony Orchestra, Winters Center for Autism Percussion Ensemble, and Centre Symphony Orchestra. He currently teaches percussion at Guitar Center in Commack, NY. His previous teaching appointments include music classes for the Connect Program at Molloy University (Rockville
Centre, NY); private instruction at his Home Music Studio in Dix Hills, NY; percussion instructor positions at Music & Arts (Commack and Deer Park, NY) and The Music Academy for Special Learners (West Babylon, NY). He also held intern percussion instructor roles at
Manhattan School of Music Pre-College and Mannes School of Music Preparatory, and served as Music Director and Conductor of the Winters Center for Autism Percussion Ensemble.

 

A career highlight includes his performance as an Actor-Drummer on the HBO series The Plot Against America, collaborating with John Turturro and Winona Ryder.

 

Jeffrey has been a member of numerous orchestras and ensembles throughout the New York City region. Former engagements include NYC Orchestra Project, Rendez-Vous Orchestra, Manhattan Symphonie, Centre Symphony Orchestra, Massapequa Philharmonic Orchestra, Amore Opera, Apotheosis Opera, International Chamber Orchestra of America, and the Prague Summer Nights: Young Artists Music Festival.
